Ultima Expert

ICP-OES, Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry

Sub-5 pm resolution and full 160–800 nm coverage for the most demanding elemental analysis.

The Ultima Expert is a radial-view ICP-OES spectrometer built for laboratories where difficult matrices are routine rather than exceptional. Its one-metre focal length optical bench and high-density holographic grating deliver resolution below 5 pm across the deep UV, which is what allows line-rich spectra from iron, tungsten and rare earth matrices to be separated cleanly.

Rather than switching between axial and radial geometries, the instrument observes the full normal analytical zone in a single radial configuration. The practical consequence is consistent sensitivity across high-salt, brine, high-dissolved-solids and organic samples without the matrix compromises that view-switching usually imposes.

Climax Scientific supplies, installs and supports the Ultima Expert as an authorised HORIBA partner. Configuration depends on your matrices, throughput and regulatory environment, so specifications below describe the standard build; contact us to discuss the configuration appropriate to your laboratory.

Key capabilities

  • Radial Total Plasma View observes the entire normal analytical zone, removing the need to switch between axial and radial geometries
  • Resolution below 5 pm in the UV separates spectral interferences in line-rich matrices such as iron, tungsten and rare earths
  • True simultaneous internal standardisation via high-stability secondary optics
  • Full 160–800 nm coverage as standard, extendable to 120 nm for halogens
  • Water-cooled 40.68 MHz solid-state generator reaches operating stability in approximately 15 minutes
  • Quick-release demountable torch requires no adjustment, supporting multi-user laboratories
  • Corrosion-resistant removable sample tray protects the instrument from aggressive samples
  • Long-term stability demonstrated at better than 0.75 % variation
  • ICP Neo software with the S³ spectral database of over 50,000 identified lines and MASTER method development
  • US EPA-compliant QC protocols; IQ/OQ/SQ and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance module available
